Based on our popular Dummy Keyboard product, the Dummy Mouse provides the equivalent capability to make PC systems believe a standard PS/2 Mouse is installed. It uses a small microcontroller to simulate the initialisation messages that a real mouse would give.
Note: Stock is common with Dummy Keyboard. Assembled units are flash programmed as keyboards or mice to order, and labeled accordingly.
Description
Sometimes it is useful for a PC or server to think it has a mouse installed, but for reasons of space limitation or security, it may be inconvenient or undesirable to have an actual mouse plugged in.
This compact device provides an inexpensive solution to these issues by providing the expected responses to the commands sent to the mouse by the computer, and doesn't take up any more space than a mouse connector. The host is effectively fooled into thinking a real mouse is connected.
Features Compact size - circuit is housed in a 6 pin mini-DIN connector that plugs directly into the PS/2 mouse socket. Overall size: 11mm diameter x 35mm long Responds correctly to all PS/2 commands from PC. On receipt of Reset command, produces valid BAT (Basic Assurance Test) completion code. On receipt of Request ID command, produces valid mouse ID string. Emulates a generic 2/3 button PS/2 mouse (non-wheel mouse). Detected in Windows as a Standard PS/2 mouse, supported by generic Microsoft drivers. Powered by host system's PS/2 mouse socket. RoHS Compliant. 12 months standard warranty against failure due to manufacturing or component defect.
Applications Headless Server systems. Remotely managed servers. Embedded PC based systems that use touch screens or other methods for the user interface, for example - EPOS terminals, Digital Jukebox, presentation systems.
Customised variations of standard products can be produced to meet particular requirements of individual customers. Additional cost will depend on quantities required.
